A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit the famous Chenonceau Castle in the Loire Valley, also called the castle of the ladies. This magnificent castle recalls the love story between Henri ll and Diane de Poitiers. Highly educated and of great beauty she was for 25 years the most powerful woman in France, even above the queen Catherine de’ Medici. Taking her name from Diane the goddess of the hunt, she wanted to look like her in everything.
Visiting the beautiful castle and walking through the large forests which surround it I tried to imagine this love story of a resplendent time.
Chenonceau castle –
the sound of Diana’s footsteps
can still be heard
